January 2011
Staying home with Kyle on New Years, having a Miasaki movie marathon and eating finger food is probably more exciting to me then going out to a party any night, including tonight. Here’s to hoping I’m the same person tomorrow.

Day 07 - Most underrated book
The Ego and Its Own, Max Stirner. I cannot describe how annoying it is to hear pseudo-intellectuals talking about the work of Nietzsche like he’s God when most of his ideas on Nihilism and the self stem back to Stirner. His work is ENTIRELY underrated and at most times, disregarded. If only he had been acknowledged in indie movies, maybe people would try to branch out and discover the...

Day 06 - A book that makes you sad
I cry at the end of every book I read. I don’t know why, it’s just some kind of ritual. A book that I did not like, but made me sad because I thought it would be good from the name (shallow) and the concept was Glass Soup, Jonathan Carroll. The writing was horrible, and he doesn’t know how to write for women, but the concept seemed really interesting and I was upset that he...

Day 05 - A book that makes you happy
Ohhhhh, this is going to be hard. One book in particular that makes me happy? I kind of feel like every book I’ve read in some way makes me happy… Tulips and Chimneys, e. e. cummings makes me pretty happy whenever I read it. It’s a collection of poetry, but, I’ll accept it. This question is too hard, books are just mood elevators for me.

Day 03 - Your favorite series
I’m not really a big series reader, honestly. I guess my favorite series is The Lord of The Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien, because it’s one I read all the way through and enjoyed the most. I also enjoy Proust’s Swan Way books, but I’m not nearly done the series.

Day 02 - A book that you’ve read more than 3 times
A Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde I didn’t read it three times because I enjoyed it, I read it three times to try piecing together why everyone else enjoyed the book so much. Rereading books is one of my favorite things to do, though. I’ve read most of the books I own at least two times over if I really enjoyed it or didn’t understand some aspect of it.
